Avocado Honey: Flavor, Origin and How to Use It
Quick facts: dark amber · dark, buttery, molasses notes · raw, unfiltered, organic and kosher.
What is avocado honey?
Avocado honey comes from the small greenish flowers of avocado trees (Persea americana), which bloom in spring. Each spring we bring our hives into the orchards to help pollinate the crop, and our bees make this distinctive honey along the way.
Where our avocado honey comes from
Ours is a product of California, the largest avocado-growing state in the US.
Color, flavor and texture
Dark amber with a rich, buttery taste and notes of molasses and caramel. It doesn't taste like avocado; it tastes like a deeper, rounder honey.
How to use avocado honey
Bake with it, spoon it into coffee, glaze roasted vegetables, or pair it with a cheese board.
Good pairings: Aged cheddar, blue cheese, coffee, gingerbread, roasted squash.
Frequently asked questions
Is your avocado honey raw?
Yes. It's raw and unfiltered, never pasteurized. It's also organic and kosher.
Does avocado honey crystallize?
At a moderate pace. It may thicken over a few months; that's natural. Crystallization is natural and doesn't mean the honey has spoiled.
Does avocado honey taste like avocado?
No. Avocado nectar gives a dark, buttery, molasses-like honey. There's no avocado flavor.
